Who is Drucker?

Peter F. Drucker was a highly reputed management visionary of the modern age, widely regarded as the “Father of Modern Management” and “Guru of Gurus". His tremendous contributions to modern management as well as his innovative and forward-looking management ideas and practice have been commonly recognized in the world.

 

Peter F. Drucker raised the groundbreaking concept of “Management by Objectives” (MBO), which went on to become one of the most important concepts in modern management. Drucker management theories influenced many world business leaders profoundly, of whom praised Drucker for leading them to make the right moves for their companies.

 

Drucker was born in Vienna in 1909, and studied in both Austria and Germany. He earned the PhD in University of Frankfurt in 1931. After immigration to America in 1937, he worked as Economist and business consultant for banks, insurance companies and multi-national companies.From 1942 to 1949, he was a professor of Philosophy and Political science at Bennington College. At the same time, Drucker was hired as the business consultant for the world’s biggest enterprise at that time, General Motors. Starting from 1950, he worked as professor of Management at New York University School of Business.

 

Drucker had been business consultant for many of the world-class companies at that time, including FORD, GM, MOTOROLA, etc . The enterprise cultures of these companies were tremendously influenced by Drucker. Besides, Durcker also worked as consultant for various SMEs, NGOs and American governmental organizations.

Durkcer continued with his writings and teachings until the later stage of his life. From 1971 onward, he incessantly taught at Claremont Graduate University.Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, was named after him in memory of his contributions to modern management. In June of 2002, he was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by US President George W. Bush.

 

The management theories of Drucker is everlasting, in 1997, Drucker graced the cover of Forbes under the headline “Still the Youngest Mind”,and The Business Review Weekly praised him as “The most remarkable thinker in Managment of our time”

 

Drucker is not only an outstanding Management master, he is also a distinguished thinker, writer and artist. He is knowledgeable in many other fields, he didn’t only concern about enterprises and resource management, he was also concerned about the business ethics of enterprises in society.
