Dr. Peter M. Senge

Author of  “The Fifth Discipline”

I remember a great quote of Peter Drucker. He said: ‘Profit for a company is like oxygen for a person. If you don't have enough of it, you're out of the game. But if you think your life is about breathing, you're really missing something.’ The purpose of an enterprise is never making money. And I think a lot of the best innovators inside big companies, the reason they succeed is that they really understand the theory of their business.”

-Dr. Peter M. Senge

Dr. Peter Senge is a Senior Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Founding Chair of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL).

He received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University. He later earned an M.S. in Social Systems Modeling from MIT.

He is the founding chair of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL) at MIT Sloan School of Management. This organization helps with the communication of ideas between large corporations. Including Microsoft, Ford, DuPont, etc.

His bestselling classic “The Fifth Discipline” was published in 1990. It tops the bestselling list in America for 3 consecutive years, and is translated into 30 languages. It is identified by Harvard Business Review as “one of the seminal management books of the previous 75 years.” Both The Financial Times and Business Week rated him as “one of the top Management Gurus” in the 2000s.

Dr. Peter Senge was greatly influenced by Drucker, who advocate innovation in entrepreneurship and sustainability of an enterprise, and thus seen as the successor of Drucker.

In 1999, these two great minds of modern management met and discuss on topics of business management at Drucker’s home under arrangement made by Drucker Institute.

The Gurus share their wisdom on how leaders can prepare themselves and their organizations for the inevitable changes that lie ahead. And talk about the importance of all organizations learning to lead change. The conversations were videotaped and became important modern management resource.
